Mudlines at Karragarra Sunset Social

On Sunday October 6, Karragarra Island, the smallest of all the human inhabited South Moreton Bay islands, came alive for the "Sunset Social", a community shorefront celebration that began in the afternoon, softened into twilight and glowed beneath lanterns and candlelight into the evening. Amongst the cultural events and workshops offered, was Canaipa Mudlines' contribution. A number of young people joined artists Julie Menzies, Wanda Dobe, Maria Cleary and Tricia Dobson in creating a sprawling, ornamented,  interconnecting and very beautiful sand sculpture which, come twilight, was lit up with tea light candles. Situated on the wet sand at the edge of the fray, with the water washing in from the tide and ferry activity and breaking into the fragile architecture, the notion of "ephemeral" was a new sense of playful urgency!
